Apple said nearly 2 million people opted for the free trial family plan, which will cost €14.99 a month for up to six family members.

Apple Music is giving prospective subscribers the option to use the service free-of-charge for three months, before getting billed.

New streaming giant Apple Music is boasting figures of 11 million trial subscribers from its first month. The iTunes service that shares payment information with Apple Music has more than 800 million devices to its name, meaning Apple still has plenty of potential subscribers to tap – or plenty of people to irritate.

As for the criticisms of Apple Music, of which there have been plenty, Cue says that Apple is “aware that some users have experienced some issues, and we hate letting them down, but we’re releasing updates as fast as we can to address those issues”. Then again, Spotify was started in 2006, which makes for a good nine year headstart over Apple’s service.

The service will be weighed and measured in just under two months when it transpires how many of those 11 million subscribers will take out premium accounts.

Apple Music delivers streaming music curated by “music experts”, hoping to deliver a more personalized listening experience than the computer-curated playlists offered from its competitors, CNET reports. Apple responded to say it had revised its policy and would pay artists during the period, and Swift in return announced all five of her albums, including last year’s 1989, would be available to stream on the platform.

Even though the goal inside Apple appears to be winning customers over to paying for the service, it may want to think about improving the design of Apple Music to keep people happy.

Apple also revealed during its fiscal third-quarter earnings, alongside sales of 48 million iPhones during the three-month period, that “millions” of people are already tuning into the firm’s 24/7 Beats 1 radio station.

July also brought a high-water mark fiscally for the Apple Store, which did a new record in transactions of $1.7 billion, with strong momentum across China, said an Apple executive.
