A Cheslor Cuthbert fielding error later, Kennedy was giving way to Aussie sidearmer Peter Moylan with Ji-Man Choi standing on first base.

On Wednesday morning, the Royals had begun the day 9 1/2 games out of first place in the American League Central and 7 1/2 games out of a playoff spot.
