Residents who may be concerned about potential rate hike increases affecting the cost of the cleanup of their homes can be reassured that none are now being implemented by the Santa Clarita Water Division, according to Abercrombie.
“There were no flaming fronts, it wasn’t really moving”, Wu said by phone.
About 300 miles up the coast, crews were battling another fire spanning more than 17 square miles that destroyed six homes on Sunday and forced evacuations outside the scenic Big Sur region.
Two smaller fires are burning in the Bighorn National Forest.
Officials closed state parks along the Big Sur coast on Tuesday, destinations that attract an average 7,500 people every day.
The closures include Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Andrew Molera State Park, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, Point Sur lighthouse park, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, and Garrapata State Park, according to the Associated Press. Campgrounds were closed because of the dangers smoke could pose to visitors but could reopen soon if the blaze is held back by firefighters, Weber said.
But authorities said Tuesday they had managed to contain 25 percent of the area, meaning the flames there had been isolated and were not expected to spread.
“This will provide the reimbursements for firefighting personnel because we have personnel from all over California in the Santa Clarita Valley and Antelope Valley fighting this fire”, said County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. Most of the thousands of people ordered to evacuate were allowed to return home last night, as firefighters got a handle on the blaze.
More than 3,000 firefighters have been deployed to halt the blaze in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to the department.
The fire erupted Friday afternoon in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Crews are still assessing the landscapes and maintaining hot spots in the area, in order to prevent them from flaring up and restarting the massive wildfire. The blaze has destroyed 20 homes and is threatening 2,000 more.
