The National Weather Service in State College has issued a flood watch for Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties, through Friday morning.

It applies to an area encompassing Lehigh, Northampton and Warren counties.
The storms will develop during the afternoon and continue throughout the night, the NWS says.
The flood warning is in effect through Friday morning, while the thunderstorm watch will expire at midnight Thursday. Heavy rainfall may produce localized flash flooding.
The heaviest rainfall is expected in communities south of the Massachusetts Turnpike, meteorologists said, where rainfall totals of two to four inches are possible. The enormous storm broke numerous records for the Charleston area, with some areas receiving more than 26 inches of rainfall over the duration of the storm.
The watch includes Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, Cheatham, Dickson and Montgomery counties, among others. Flash floods are an extremely unsafe situation.

Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
