Indian singer Sukhbir Singh held at Lahore airport

Indian pop singer Sukhbir Singh on Sunday fled from the Lahore airport after authorities found $27,000 in his luggage, the media reported. The Indian pop singer was taken into custody when he somehow managed to dodge the authorities leaving behind his luggage and currency.

On digging into the details, it was heard that, Sukhbir was seen at Karachi airport yesterday to catch his Dubai flight. A senior customs official told PTI that Sukhbir reached the Allama Iqbal worldwide Airport here at 11.30 am to catch a Dubai-bound flight.

Punjabi-born singer Singh, has spent 20 years in Nairobi and then moved to Dubai in 1992 and has been travelling to various countries for gigs. “He is innocent and nothing objectionable was found on him during the custom checks”. The Indian singer arrived Lahore to perform the marriage ceremony of the grandson of a close associate of slain Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

“Sukhbir was given United States dollars 30,000 to perform in both occasions on August 7 and 8 where Pakistani artist Shafqat Amanat Ali additionally performed”, it was accounted for. “He safely boarded the flight for Dubai”, Sunny was quoted by the paper.
