Kabali 2nd Day (Saturday) Worldwide Box Office Collection

It is said that the day one gross figure in TN will be in range of 17- 20 crores, thanks to the high ticket price and enormous number of screens.

Mumbai: South Indian megastar Rajinikanth’s latest release “Kabali” hit Mumbai with thousands of fans celebrating at the Aurora Theatre in King’s Circle and other parts of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai on Friday.

It had organised the film’s premiere (Tamil version) on Thursday, July 21, at the Federal theatre in Jalan Raja Laut which was graced by many dignitaries and 100s of Rajinikanth’s fans. BO collection of “Kabali” from the premiere show in the United States points to a number close to $2 million.

“It has earned approximately Rs 100 crore worldwide”, the statement added.

Earlier, Aurora Theatre has hosted films like Rajinikanth’s “Annamalai”, “Sivaji” and Kamal Haasan’s “Thevar Magan”.

Earlier both Rajinikanth and Big B have worked together for several movies like “Andha Kanoon”, “Geraftaar” and “Hum”, and his many Hindi movie were also remade in Tamil with Rajinikanth.

The movie also features Radhika Apte, Dinesh Ravi, Kalaiyarasan, Kishore, John Vijay and Taiwan’s Winston Chao.

Kabali Opening day box office collection: 50cr+.

The opening scenes from the film show a grey-bearded Rajinikanth being released from a prison, swearing to avenge his enemies.

Tickets for Kabali, which stars Rajinikanth as an ageing gangster, sold out well before the release and were changing hands on the black market for up to Rs 5,000.

Sandhya Ramani, a graduate student at University of Colorado, Denver, said she had timed her vacation to be in Chennai for the film’s release. “Kabali [Tamil+Telugu] opening in worldwide markets: Malaysia: No 1 [Thu+Fri] USA-Canada: No 3 [Thu pre] UK: No 10 [Thu+Fri] @Rentrak”, tweeted Taran Adarsh.

Rajesh Thadani, a Mumbai-based distributor, said: “The film has made an outstanding first day collection of around Rs 48 crore”.

“Kabali” opened up today on around 12,000 screens across India, as well in some region of United Kingdom and Malaysia which have tints of the Tamil-speaking population. “Kabali” is releasing on 306 screens in Kerala”, trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

Kabali released in over 400 screens in the USA and Canada.
