Julian Assange Chats With Democracy Now
During an interview with NBC’s Richard Engel, Julian Assange said that “there is no proof whatsoever” that Russian intelligence sources are responsible for hacking thousands of Democratic National Committee emails.

Assange was speaking in a CNN interview following the release of almost 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee by suspected Russian hackers.
The emails, which were released by WikiLeaks last Friday, revealed the committee’s bias toward presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over rival Bernie Sanders and led to the resignation of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Sunday. While Assange didn’t specify what exactly was in the emails, he did tell ITV that WikiLeaks had “accumulated a lot of material about Hillary Clinton, which could proceed to an indictment”.
“And other people from the party, which is meant to be neutral, subverting the process in order to make sure Hillary Clinton won the campaign”, he added.
WikiLeaks has always been a thorn in the side of the former Secretary of State, who called on President Obama to prosecute the whistleblowing site after its 2010 leak of State Department cables.
“Now, of course, Hillary Clinton has tried to immediately produce a counter-example by putting out a statement, within hours, saying that Schultz is a great friend, and she’s incorporating her into her campaign, she’s going to be pushing for her re-election to the Congress”.
Julian Assange, Editor-in-chief of Wikileaks sat down with Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! to talk about the leak and what else may be coming next.
Clinton had been Secretary of State when WikiLeaks had released thousands of USA diplomatic cables and other classified information.
“We do see her as a bit of a problem for freedom of the press more generally”, Assange said.
