“John Hinckley is responsible for the shooting of President Reagan and three other courageous men”.

In a year to 18 months, the hospital is required to conduct a risk assessment that could result in reducing the restrictions or removing him from court supervision.
Hinckley’s longtime attorney, Barry Levine, said he and his client were gratified by the order and that Hinckley has thrived under his new liberties.
The order by Judge Paul Friedman can not be appealed and police says that unless he violates the conditions of his leave, he does not need to come back to the hospital.
16 years ago Hinckley was still obsessing over Foster.
The attempt on Reagan’s life sparked intense debate over gun violence and the treatment of the mentally ill. His doctors may believe he no longer poses a threat to himself or the public. Hinckley could leave St. Elizabeths Hospital as early as August 5.
Although the chief medical examiner ruled Brady’s death a homicide, saying it was caused by a gunshot wound he sustained in the 1981 shooting, prosecutors decided not to pursue any additional charges against Hinckley.
Foster, 53, was just a teenager when Hinckley was tossed into a hospital for the attempted murder of Reagan, but he was determined to be not guilty by reason of insanity.
For the next year, Hinckley will reside with his mother; if things go well, the judge wrote, he may obtain permission to live on his own.
Spriggs spent almost three decades with the Secret Service. He now works as vice president of global security for The AP.
Hinckley must live with his mother in Williamsburg for the first year of his release.
Hinckley shot the president and multiple others when he emptied his revolver outside a Washington D.C. hotel.
“John Hinckley is responsible for the shooting of President Reagan and three other courageous men”, read a statement released by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, obtained by ET. He must attend individual and group therapy sessions and is barred from talking to the media. There are also restrictions on how far he can travel. He also must return to Washington once a month so doctors can check on his mental state. Reagan’s press secretary, James Brady, was permanently paralyzed after being shot in the head. In late 2003, the judge allowed Hinckley to begin leaving the hospital for day visits with his parents in the Washington area.

“My father not only could say the Lord’s Prayer, but lived the Lord’s Prayer because of his forgiveness of John Hinckley”, said Reagan, whose book, “Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan”, is available now.
