Technology news site TechCrunch said that game developer Niantic Inc had planned to launch Pokemon GO in Japan on July 20 but had cancelled it, citing a source as saying that the company was anxious the hype generated by the game would overload its servers.

“Nintendo have a very large investment in said company, and this game was hyped up big time over the last couple of weeks or so – they should have been prepared, it’s just not good enough”.

But game industry watchers who are familiar with Japan’s network are not that optimistic toward the released day.
