Dems Nix DNC Chair From Convention Over Leaked Emails
The Democratic National Committee issued a statement Monday afternoon, offering a “deep and honest apology to Senator Sanders, his supporters, and the entire Democratic Party for the inexcusable remarks made over email”.

Wasserman Schultz was already expected to have a reduced speaking role at the DNC in the wake of the criticism and distrust from supporters of the Vermont senator, and the email leaks forced her hand to announce her resignation.
Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon told CNN the decision to step back from Monday’s opening was Wasserman Schultz’s decision, as was her resignation.
Weaver also said the emails may make it harder to promote party unity as Sanders’ supporters mix with Clinton’s majority at the Philadelphia convention.
“I have known Tim Kaine for a number of years”.
The protesters, at times, have drawn more attention than the speeches and while Hillary Clinton prepared to face her biggest audience, so too did the protesters. And no one works harder for her constituents in Congress than Debbie Wasserman Schultz. According to her online biography, she graduated from the University of Florida.
Congresswoman Marcia Fudge is a Clinton supporter who took over as convention chair after Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned amidst leaks of emails showing what many see as a tipping of the Democratic primary scales to boost Clinton over Bernie Sanders.
As a result of the leaks, Wasserman Schultz has been removed as a speaker at the DNC this week, a decision reached by party officials Saturday, a top Democrat said.
“I’ve been proud to call Debbie a friend for a long time, and while quitting isn’t in her DNA, the DNC has become a distraction at time when we need to unify to elect Secretary Clinton”, he said.
DNC Vice Chairwoman Donna Brazile will serve as interim chair through the election, the DNC said on Twitter.
“We really appreciate all the public service she’s contributed to her constituents as well as the country”, said Maureen McKenna, president of the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida.
Trump waved away Republican disunity as essentially isolated pockets of resistance and made an apparent reference to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, who was booed off stage in Cleveland when he did not endorse Trump after losing to him in a bitter primary race.
“She’ll go out. She’ll campaign where she’s welcome, and we’ll move on from there”. Perhaps part of the calculation was that Wasserman Schultz represented South Florida, a Democrat-rich area of a critical swing state in the upcoming election.
But Wasserman Schultz’s departure seemed to do little to pacify some Sanders backers.
Sanders is set to address delegates on Monday night.
He said he’s not supporting Clinton and isn’t sure whether he will in November.

“A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace”, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.
