Google lets third parties extend its productivity software on Android

Google Drive gained its original steam as a streamlined (not to mention free) version of the bloated Microsoft Office productivity suite, so it’s not terribly surprising that there may be more advanced features that you may need from your office suite that Google doesn’t provide. AppSheet allows users to create mobile apps based on the data from Google Sheets without any coding. You can find Google Docs and Sheets for Android add-ons in the Google Play Store. The add-ons span all sorts of functionality, with offerings including tools for creating apps, importing data, the classroom, making citations, and more.

“The secure and reliable signing from DocuSign paired with the power and speed of Google Apps brings you to the next level of productivity”, DocuSign explained on its blog.

A small set of add-ons is available now from a hand-picked set of Google partners. However, in due course, it will be possible for developers to build their own add-ons, and submit them to Google for review. Those existing integrations have been available for users accessing the services from their computers.

Google has announced support for third-party add-ons on Docs and Sheets, which will allow you to do your work more efficiently on your Android mobile devices.

It’s not yet clear what the future holds for add-ons beyond Android.
