Siddaramaiah’s son hospitalised in Belgium after he complains of severe stomach pain

Chief minister Siddaramaiah’s son Rakesh, who is undergoing treatment for an acute pancreatic ailment, is making steady recovery, family sources. Sources close to the Siddaramaiah family said that he had major complications of the pancreas and liver.

The official Twitter handle of the Karnataka Chief Minister had two days ago stated that Siddaramaiah’s elder son had fallen ill in Belgium.

Ambassador of India Manjeev Puri received the CM at the Airport and took him to the Antwerp University Hospital. It is learnt that Rakesh has now started to respond to the treatment and is said to be recuperating. Modi came to know that Siddaramaiah had spoken to minister for external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, about extending healthcare facility to his son at Brussels, and help for obtaining permission to travel to Belgium.

Rakesh, who was on a tour of Belgium and France with his friends, has been admitted to University of Brussels Hospital.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, who told reporters here on Wednesday that his son’s condition was “critical but stable”, is leaving for Belgium by an early morning flight on Thursday.
