“Rallies and functions were held across Pakistan to draw attention of the world community towards the burning issue of Kashmir”, Dunya News reported.

Thousands of people marched in streets across Pakistan on Wednesday to protest violence in India-administered Kashmir, Agence France-Presse journalists said, as the death toll from days of clashes between demonstrators and security forces rose to 45. The government asked Pakistan not to mislead the worldwide community and Kashmiris through “meaningless exercises such as the so-called elections today in PoK which Pakistan ironically Azad’ (free)”.

At least 40 people have died and more than 3,000 have been injured in the violence that erupted in Kashmir after Burhan Wani, a 22-year-old terrorist, was killed by security forces on the night of July 8. “Extensive use of social media by Burhan Wani, inviting Kashmiri youth to resist against Indian Occupation made him an icon of the resistance movement”, Aziz said.

India must permit the holding of a free, fair and impartial plebiscite, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, to ascertain the will of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Senate today (Thursday) passed a unanimous resolution urging that the UN Security Council resolutions recognizing the inalienable right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people should be implemented forthwith.

New Delhi issued a strong statement a day after Pakistan observed “Black Day” to protest the “brutalities” on Kashmiris by the armed forces.

India on Thursday unleashed an all-round attack on Pakistan with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh accusing the neighbouring country of “sponsoring’ terror activities in Kashmir Valley while the Ministry of External Affairs condemned Islamabad for abetting activities of even internationally-designated terrorists. If terrorism is there in India, it is due to Pakistan which is sponsoring it”, Singh said in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. “The first meeting he called upon his return to India was to discuss Kashmir”, the Home Minister said. The meeting unanimously called upon the worldwide community to condemn these blatant human rights violations by Indian security forces and play their role in ensuring the realization of human rights of the Kashmiri people through fulfilling its commitments towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir under the UNSC resolutions.
