Guzan, 31, has signed a two-year contract with newly promoted Middlesbrough following Villa’s relegation to the Championship.
“The 31-year-old made 34 appearances for Villa last season and played every game for Juergen Klinsmann’s US squad in the summer as they reached the Copa America semi-final”.
Fellow summer signing Victor Valdes, a World Cup and Champions League winner in the past, will also battle for the number one jersey, leaving Konstantopoulos and Mejias to wonder what the future holds for them.
Guzan could make his debut in Saturday’s friendly match at Villa, a potential instant return to his former club.
The 24-year-old Ghana star has been attracting the interest of Hamburg and Nice, but L’Equipe are reporting that Ayew, who scored seven goals for Villa last season, would be interested in a move to the Hammers.
