Oh No! Matt Damon Says He’s Taking a “Year Off” From Acting

Damon, 45, whose latest installment of the Bourne franchise, “Jason Bourne”, opens Friday, also shared he wants to spend more time with his family after “dragging them all over the world” for film shoots.

But “Jason Bourne” doesn’t really probe that storyline; instead, it’s a jittery flash-connect of motorcycle chases, vehicle crashes (particularly an impressive if tardy pileup near the end), anxious-looking people barking orders and “Copy that!” at each other, and screenshots of files downloading while ominous music plays.

Bourne is off the grid, laying low in an Eastern European fight club, beating up thugs for cash – but he may be ready to blow the cover of the killer organisation he is part of. Directed by Paul Greengrass, from a screenplay by Greengrass and Christopher Rouse, based on characters created by Robert Ludlam.

Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) Scott Shepherd (Bridge of Spies) and Ato Essandoh (Django Unchained) are among other newcomers installed as Central Intelligence Agency operatives, while Julia Stiles is once more Bourne’s ex-handler and confidant Nicky Parsons. She discovers a shocking secret and resolves to share the data with the elusive operative. He spoke to Kate Rodger about what it took to come back to the Bourne fray, how lucky they were to get Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander on board for this sequel, and why Tommy Lee Jones is a national treasure. The government is spying through the citizens and compromising their privacy for the sake of public safety.

The “Jason Bourne” star opened up about his hectic work schedule during an appearance on the “Today” show on Thursday.

Damon is in peak physical form for the gruelling action sequences and he tears at his character’s heart as the past returns to haunt him once more.
