Joe Biden At The Democratic National Convention: “I Know Hillary”

“No, we endure! We overcome and we always, always, always move forward”, Biden said amid cries of “U.S.A.!” from the Democratic National Convention crowd Wednesday. It’s not just who she is, it’s her life story.

Joe Biden! Thanks to some blend of semi-ironic internet appreciation and his own emotional and pugnacious commitment to the goals of the Obama administration, Vice President Biden has become a liberal Democratic icon despite the presence of a few considerably non-liberal positions in his past. That was a joke. He also told a rowdy crowd here that Mr. Trump’s extreme lack of foreign policy knowledge would make the US much less safe at a volatile time across the globe.

It’s all part of a whirlwind week for the Virginia Senator. A man who embraces the tactics of our enemies: “torture, religious intolerance…you all know, all the Republicans know, that’s not who we are”. No, I mean it.

JOHN YANG: Away from the convention, more fireworks over those hacked Democratic National Committee e-mails. Obama said Clinton is trusted by world leaders and will keep America safe.

“And then there’s Donald Trump”.

Vice President Joe Biden is tweeting out his admiration for Hillary Clinton in advance of his convention address on the Democratic nominee. “I hope you don’t mind, Bill, but I was just telling the truth, man”. “I think there has been, in both parties, not enough respect shown to ordinary people”. Let’s see if that happens. “It’s personal. But I know we can do this”.

The vice president added it’s imperative Americans keep Trump out of the White House, saying the country can not afford a “man who exploits our fears” and “who has no plan whatsoever to make it safe”.

JOHN YANG: Last night, dozens of Sanders delegates walked out of the convention.

He urged Democrats to come together, to rally behind Clinton, reaching out to party idealists who had aligned themselves with Sen. “We should really think about this”. “But they get up every morning, every day”. She doesn’t care about that. As he often does, he assured us that he was being serious, honest, and that this was important.

Rachel, what do we expect tonight? The focus is going to be on two very important issues, national security and the economy. “The Donald is not really a plans guy”, Obama said, referring to the real-estate developer’s agenda. Where’s all the talk about the threat from terrorism? And tonight, they got a look at how that election might have gone.

He will take the stage and make the case as to why Hillary Clinton should be the next commander in chief.

In a fiery denunciation of Republican Donald Trump, “middle class Joe” Biden – the kid from Scranton – said Donald Trump has no “empathy” for the middle class.

The vice president also endeavored to use Trump’s reality TV stardom against him.
