With the Narsingh Yadav dope issue getting murkier by the day, the wrestler is expected to learn his Rio Olympics fate on Thursday after the National Anti Doping disciplinary panel adjouned its hearing on the day. Yadav, who was to represent India in the 74kg category at the Olympics, said his food supplements were spiked after he tested positive for a banned steroid.

Mumbai: Indian shot putter Inderjeet Singh said on Tuesday he has been notified by the national anti-doping agency (NADA) that he has returned a positive test for banned substances in his A sample.

Singh also refuted the claims of Sports Minister Vijay Goel that no player in the Olympics squad can be substituted if he or she has been suspended by an anti-doping panel. He is innocent. I know him for several years.

At the World Championship trials held in New Delhi previous year, Rana had lost to Narsingh in the dying seconds of the bout.

“It’s the same substance that was found in the first test”. If the “B” sample also tests positive, he will have to miss Rio Games beginning August 5, besides facing the prospect of being banned for four years under the new WADA Code.

“I have always maintained that there has been a conspiracy against me. I will defend it”, he said.

“We had to fight to get him included in the TOP scheme”.

Soon after failing dope test for taking an anabolic steroid, metadienone, Narsingh cried foul and said he was a victim of conspiracy. Plus the wrestler has previously never tested positive makes Narsingh’s case much stronger.

Mumbai: With less than 10 days to go for Rio Olympics, Indian sport is now battling a major controversy-the Narsingh Yadav-wrestling controversy, which has left a bitter taste.

“NADA also keeps educating the athletes through booklets”.
