BlackBerry DTEK50 Android Smartphone Released
Faced with steadily declining sales of phones running its proprietary BlackBerry operating system, the company a year ago came out with its first-ever Android smartphone, the $699 Priv.

The recently-announced BlackBerry DTEK50, however is a midrange, all-touchscreen smartphone that shares design and hardware specs with the Alcatel Idol 4, TheVerge reported.
For a limited time, customers who pre-order a DTEK50 on ShopBlackBerry.com will receive a complimentary BlackBerry Mobile Power Pack and a high-capacity portable charger worth $69.99 CDN. BlackBerry’s Android smartphones, including DTEK50 and PRIV, have unique built-in hardware security.
The BlackBerry DTEK50 is the world’s most protected Android smartphones.
Full Enterprise Mobility Management Support: DTEK50 supports BlackBerry’s powerful suite of EMM applications and secure productivity solutions, including: WatchDox by BlackBerry for secure file-sharing, Good Work for business-class email and collaboration tools, Strong Authentication by BlackBerry as a VPN solution, SecuSUITE for Enterprise for secure voice and instant messaging communication, BBM Protected for encrypted messaging and BES12 for secure cross-platform management.
“It has a 5.2” (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) scratch and smudge resistant full HD display.
With a hard design and decent display BlackBerry presents DTEK50 model.
“With just a quick glimpse, DTEK tells you the overall security rating for your device (excellent, fair, or poor) along with suggestions for improving it”, Koen noted.
It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with BlackBerry’s software features, such as the Hub. It’s scary, but this does happen on other phones. This is the thinnest BlackBerry ever, if pocket knot is a concern to you are then going for the DTEK50 shouldn’t worry you, and at 135g it’s also amazingly light.
It has data encryption by default, so everything is encrypted on the device. In a recent survey of Android smartphone users, BlackBerry stated that 50 percent of those surveyed believe their smartphone is only somewhat secure, and one in six Android users don’t know about Android security patches. It tracks your apps and notifies you when someone is accessing your phone without your knowledge.
The BlackBerry Priv, which was an incredible phone, did not do well in profits due to its high price. The phone is priced at just under $300 and it is already available for preorder – four major European countries, the United States, and Canada – through BlackBerry’s official site.
We can expect an even steeper decline in BlackBerry’s smartphone sales in the current quarter, as is evident from its telecom partner AT&T (T) criticizing the PRIV’s “struggling” sales, according to a report from CNET.

The company said it would also offer the DTEK50 through security resellers and other distributors, in an attempt to target more business customers. In the U.S., DTEK50 will initially be available in Best Buy, B&H and Amazon. The gray smartphone innovator is hoping the DTEK50 will sell in greater numbers than the Priv, its first phone using the Android operating system.
