National Basketball Association legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joked Thursday that Donald Trump could not tell the difference between him and Michael Jordan and bashed the Republican presidential candidate for his plan to ban Muslims from entering the United States.

“I’m Michael Jordan, and I’m here with Hillary [Clinton]”. See his full address here. The crowd then burst into uproarious laughter, and he Abdul-Jabbar introduced himself properly.

Abdul-Jabbar then launched into a moving speech about Muslims serving in the armed forces, including Captain Humayan Khan, who died in service after 9/11.

He compared Jefferson’s defense of religious freedom to “the “religious freedom” acts like those signed by [Trump running mate] Mike Pence, which are the very opposite, because they encourage religious discrimination”. “Those who think Americans scare easily enough to abandon our country’s ideals in exchange for a false sense of security underestimate our resolve”, Abdul-Jabbar said. To them, we say only this: “‘Not here, not ever'”.

He, too, had sharp words for the GOP nominee. “If it was up to Donald Trump, [our son] never would have been in America”, Khizr said. He disrespects other minorities, women, judges, even his own party leadership.

“That is the story of this country, the story that has brought me to this stage tonight, the story of generations of people who felt the lash of bondage, the shame of servitude, the sting of segregation, but who kept on striving and hoping and doing what needed to be done so that today I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves”, First Lady Obama stated. The audience began booing. “I will gladly lend you my copy”, Kahn said as he held out his copy of the Constitution. Go look at the graves of courageous patriots who died defending the United States of America. You have sacrificed nothing – and no one. We can not solve – we can not solve our problems by building walls, sewing division.
