Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby explains decision
Prosecutors in Baltimore have dropped all remaining charges against police officers related to Gray’s death while in police custody.

Despite murder, assault, manslaughter and endangerment charges, three officers were acquitted by a judge.
Mosby said the case showed “an inherent bias that is a direct result of when police police themselves”.
“Our union will continue to support our officers during the administrative hearings, and we believe these good officers will be returned to fulfilling their duties with the Baltimore City Police Department and serving the citizens of Baltimore every day”, Ryan said. “She acted too quickly”, said David Weinstein, a former state and federal prosecutor now in private practice in Florida. “It’s the right conclusion, that it’s not worth the taxpayers’ time and money”.
Officers Garrett Miller, Edward Nero and William Porter as well as Sgt. Alicia White and Lt. Brian Rice are suing Mosby and Maj.
The spending panel’s actions came hours after prosecutors made a decision to drop the remaining charges for officers in the Gray case.
The judge ruled that although the officers may have exercised poor judgment, prosecutors failed to prove the officers tried to hurt Gray. Her ethical and legal lapses are many: She conducted a hurried “independent investigation”, disregarding police findings; she delayed disclosure of key exculpatory evidence to the defense; she promoted a fantasy claim that Gray’s arrest was unlawful; she attempted to incite and prejudice the jury pool in order in order to gain convictions; she repeatedly used inflammatory rhetoric in public statements. Gray into the van he was conscious.
So Ms Mosby has announced she will not proceed with the cases against the remaining officers.
A fourth officer had his case heard by a jury, who deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. Never before in Maryland history had a co-defendant facing trial been forced to testify for the prosecution. But prosecutors took the case all the way to the state’s highest court, saying their case would be “gutted” without Porter as a “necessary and material” witness.
Still, the challenges for the state appeared increasingly overwhelming as Miller’s trial approached. However, Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Michael Schatzow informed the judge the charges were being dropped.
While Mosby said prosecutors had presented “a great deal of evidence” and expressed disappointment with the previous verdicts, she said police reforms would safeguard against anyone else coming else to the same fate.
“Clearly they had given up on that pretense that they were keeping the trials separate”, Pipkin said.
Mosby was asked about her critics that said all along that she made a rush to judgement. “For the whole office”. That they were suggests that Mosby was playing to the mob rather than following the facts.
“Once they started dropping charges, it became quite clear that the state’s attorney has chose to move on”, Burns said.
“Over 30 officers were involved, everyone from the current commissioner on down”.
Mosby explained why she and her office made the decision, which she said was a hard one.
In an earlier news conference, Mosby blamed police for a biased investigation that failed to produce a single conviction.
Naturally, this sparked a national outrage amongst African Americans across the country, who were already upset about several other police brutality incidents involving unarmed African American men. We are very proud of the prosecutors who handled the case and did their best to their ability. The officers did not speak.
On Wednesday, the state’s attorney, Marilyn J. Mosby fiercely defended the prosecutions.

“Considering back in May of previous year Ms. Mosby passionately promised the citizens of Baltimore city that justice would be sought through the conviction of these six officers, the bottom line is the state failed”.
