DNC 2016: Sarah Silverman tells ‘Bernie or Bust’ supporters ‘You’re being ridiculous’
“So, I think we began that process last night, I think that as Sarah Silverman said … we’ve got to get over it”. “And it’s very cool to see”, Silverman said before announcing, “Hillary is our democratic nominee and I will proudly vote for her”.

She also explained her shift during the Democratic primary from supporting Clinton to backing Sanders, and now once again backing Clinton.
Asked about remarks in the ’90s that Hillary Clinton made as first lady about urban gangs with “super-predators” as members – which she later walked back – Keys said: “It’s obvious that that was a big mistake. Bernie! Bernie!” grew to deafening levels, the comedian grew more exasperated by the lack of unity within the DNC crowd. “Relax, I put some cream on it”, Silverman joked to the audience at the Wells Fargo Center.
Earlier within the evening, Franken, a fellow comic and 15-year veteran of “Saturday Night Stay”, offered a satirical talk about being truly a “happy alumni of Trump University”.
“I am proud to support a presidential candidate who will fight to ensure all people with mental health conditions get the care they need to live fulfilling lives”, she continued, earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
“Hillary heard the passion of the people”. These diehard Bernie Bros had been booing Clinton endorsements all night, and Silverman’s own speech was interrupted several times by boos and chants of “Bernie!” Come on. She’s like the only person ever to be overqualified for a job as the president. As she was joined on stage by Minnesota Senator Al Franken, Silverman chose to go off script and tell the Sanders supporters in attendance what was on her mind… “It’s simply the right thing to do”, said the 23-year-old Lovato, in a blush-tone mini-dress.
As a Sanders supporter herself, Silverman said she would now vote for Hillary Clinton “with gusto” as she continues to be “inspired and moved to action by the ideals set forth by Bernie, who will never stop fighting for us”. But her most effective denunciation of Trump took place near the end when she countered Trump’s statement that the GOP has to make American great again.
