VP Nominee Tim Kaine Impersonates Donald Trump At DNC: ‘Believe Me’

Tim Kaine (D) formally accepted his party’s nomination for vice president at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia Wednesday night.

But before he got to Trump, he spoke about trust in relation to Hillary Clinton-perhaps unsurprisingly given the Democratic nominee’s lagging poll numbers on trustworthiness.

Kaine, who was accused of being a tiresome choice when Clinton first announced the senator as her running mate, drew big laughs from the raucous convention crowd with his jeers at Trump.

“I never expected to be here”, he said.

While the Virginia senator addressed the audience, tweets poured in gently poking fun at him, with many on social media pointing out his “dad” qualities.

“I trust Hillary Clinton with our son’s life”, he said. He just says, ‘believe me.’ So here’s the question.

Kaine played the roll of attack dog at times, saying that voters should check if candidates have passion for the work that they do.

“If you don’t know there’s 50 states and New Jersey and Virginia are different, and you’re trying to run for president and learn that on the fly, Lord help you”, Kaine told Muir in an interview airing Thursday on World News Tonight. “They lost tens of thousands of dollars, all because they believed Donald Trump”.

But Kaine countered Trump’s attempted walk-back: “I don’t think that Russian Federation comment was sarcastic”, he said. Drawing chants of “Not a clue” from the floor of the convention, Biden took Trump to task for his trademark reality TV slogan, “You’re fired”. With folksy charm, he tore into Trump, mocking his pledges to build a wall along the Mexican border, asking why he has not released his tax returns and slamming his business record, including the now-defunct Trump University. “She’s ready because she knows in America we are stronger when we are together”, Kaine said.

“Hillary Clinton and I are compañeros del alma”.
