San Diego officer dead another injured

San Diego police stated on Twitter that one of the officers died from his injuries. Both officers were shot in the upper torso. A suspect is reportedly in custody, but officers are still looking for others. Their condition is unknown.

Police have yet to release the name of the deceased officer.

“Almost immediately, very shortly after they put out they were making a stop, they called for emergency cover”, she said.

“(There were) heroic efforts by the officers on scene, heroic efforts by the doctors to save his life”, she said. His wife is at the hospital.

San Diego’s police chief says the second of two police officers shot is expected to survive.

The search is centered in the 3800 block of Boston and surrounding areas.

Zimmerman told reporters that police were looking for a second suspect in the incident in a southeast San Diego neighborhood.

Two San Diego police officers have been shot and a suspect is in custody, the department said on social media.

The police department confirmed the officer’s death on Twitter Friday morning.

The shooting occurred late Thursday night.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports police flooded the area searching for suspects, while residents were encouraged to stay within their homes.
