Apple is reportedly going to revamp the App Store with the addition of personalised recommendations.

The update to the app will using your buying history in order to recommend products more products it thinks will interest you. This sort of tactic is used in larger online retailers such as Amazon.

In Apple’s App Store, iOS device users can browse through handpicked apps on the Featured tab and go through the list of the top apps on the Top Charts tab. The new update sounds like Apple will be combining the design for the two devices.

It’ll be interesting to see how Apple handles such a system. Apple plans to introduce its redesigned Apple Store app in the near future, perhaps within the next two weeks.

As per the Bloomberg report, the revamped Apple Store app which is being developed by Apple will likely feature a dedicated “For You” tab, which will apparently be similar to the “For You” sections of the Apple Music and Apple News apps.

Apple did not immediately respond to CNET’s request for comment. Possibly using differential privacy to protect purchase history.

The report doesn’t mention if Apple will eventually bring the feature to the web version of the online Apple Store, though if it’s successful, it’s probably only a matter of time until Apple adds it to all of its store fronts. It’s unclear whether or not Apple will bringing such an algorithm to its Apple Online Store website.
