HILLARY CLINTON: America is at a ‘moment of reckoning’
“I hope my headline (from the speech) is that the president of the United States is profoundly optimistic about America’s future and is 100 percent convinced that Hillary Clinton can be a great president”, Obama said in an interview with NBC News that aired on Wednesday.

For several hours, Trump stole the show.
“Tonight, I ask you to do for Hillary Clinton what you did for me”.
Until now, Clinton has not been much help to his wife’s campaign, in public at least.
“Well, I hope to convey even just a small sense of why I’m so proud and grateful to be her daughter”, said Chelsea Clinton.
Republican National Convention delegates in Cleveland last week embraced a freewheeling, policy-light lineup, reveling in messages of salvation from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s inner circle, while expressing their fears that America has become less safe. He criticized its planners for a lineup of speakers who seldom mentioned terrorism or USA police and even for not placing American flags on the stage.
Following his emotional address, Obama was joined on the stage by Secretary Clinton, who made surprise-but brief-appearance ahead of her official acceptance of the nominee on Thursday night in order to hug the president.
Other speakers at the convention included former President Bill Clinton, as well as Vermont Sen.
Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an independent, considered his own run for president before issuing a statement in March saying he would not risk the chance that he would divide the electorate in a way that would lead to Trump getting elected.
That coalition was vividly on display in the first two nights of the convention in Philadelphia.
Hoopla and celebration gave way to somber moments as the convention showcased “mothers of the movement” – women whose children died in gun violence. Democrats have little noted the threat of terrorism or the Islamic State group, though both were expected to be more relevant in Wednesday’s program.
“He’s betting that if he scares enough people, he might score just enough votes to win this election”, Obama said. “That is a bunch of malarkey”, Biden said.
Kaine said he’s a progressive in the conservative South, which “may be different” than being a progressive elsewhere in the U.S. In his speech that night, former President Bill Clinton detailed their 45-year relationship, starting at Yale Law School in the 1970s, and described some of the ways she had inspired change throughout her career. And that took a certain mastery too achieve, especially considering that America remembers well that the Clintons’ marriage has had its rough patches.
Her chief rival in the bruising Democratic primary battle, Senator Bernie Sanders, called on his supporters this week to line up behind Clinton, aiming to draw a line under protests by “Bernie or bust” Democrats who remain angry over her victory.

But Sanders didn’t convince all of the delegates. Liberals are unhappy with Kaine’s support for so-called “fast track” authority for a Pacific Rim trade pact, though Clinton aides say he now opposes the deal in its final form.
