The standoff began around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, when the inmates sabotaged surveillance cameras in a housing tier in Division 10, the sheriff’s office said in an email.
Chicago says there are 16 other detainees in the tier. Jail officials say that a flash bomb was used to get into the area where the hostage was being held as he was stabbed in the leg.

There are now no reported injuries, and the Sheriff’s Emergency Response team is attending the scene and now working to resolve the situation. They later destroyed the cameras. No one had been injured as of a little before 7 p.m.
