The agency he did not say how much money it tends to seek from the city.

The blaze that stalled service from Grand Central was started by fuel that accidentally spilled on a hot generator, FDNY officials said.

The area also held the majority of the business’ gardening supplies, such as soil and fertilizers, as well as its office files and a woodworking shop.

While the MTA’s filing of a notice of claim does not now represent legal action action it is often the first step in the process of putting together a lawsuit against the city.

According to the notice, the MTA is looking to recover from the city the cost of repairs to the damaged viaduct and lost revenues from the fire. Total ridership loss was about 275,000, the MTA said. “By and large, spaces under train tracks and viaducts are unoccupied by businesses or structures”.

City Hall officials say they will review the notice, while a spokesperson for the de Blasio administration says it has taken to steps to prevent similar fires.
