USA election: Hillary Clinton to accept historic Democratic nomination
On Thursday evening, Hillary Clinton took the stage to accept the Democratic nomination for president and give her much-anticipated closing speech to the Democratic National Convention. She accused Trump of taking the Republican Party from Morning in America to midnight in America and quoted FDR’s fear itself quote.

“Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis”, Clinton said as she accepted the Democratic nomination for president. We will rise to the challenge, just as we always have. She said we’ve heard of the man from Hope, and the man of hope. “And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump”.
Hillary Clinton made the connection between the founders and today, “America is once again at a moment of reckoning”.
“We are not afraid”.
President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden had also given speeches supporting Clinton, casting her as qualified for the Oval Office because of her experience as a former secretary of state, USA senator and first lady, but also because of her loyalty and passion.
“I will be a president for Democrats, Republicans, independents, for the struggling, the striving and the successful”. Instead, we will build an economy where everyone who wants a good paying job can get one.
The Week reports the “I believe in science!” line earned Hillary Clinton the most applause in a speech filled with applause. Especially in places that for too long have been left out and left behind.
At first I thought she was joking, but I quickly learned that women had not been allowed to wear trousers up to that point. “Of authenticity, of emotion but also control, of competence, but also care”, she said.
Clinton accused her Republican opponent in November’s election, Donald Trump, as sowing discord.
As Clinton herself said in her acceptance speech, “When there are no ceilings, the sky’s the limit”.
“Americans don’t say: ‘I alone can fix it, ‘” Clinton said.
Clinton says people are “soon going to understand” why Kaine is so popular in Virginia, which he represents in the Senate.
President Barack Obama hailed Hillary Clinton as the most qualified person ever to run for president.

The most recent Rasmussen poll released on Thursday shows Clinton with just a one percentage point lead, while a Los Angeles Times poll released on Wednesday shows Trump leading by seven percentage points. “A president should respect the men and women who risk their lives to serve our country”, she said, adding that Trump can’t even handle the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign.
