Dolphins say stadium renovation will be completed on time

The day started with the news that five players, running back Arian Foster, cornerback Xavien Howard, running back Damien Williams, linebacker Zach Vigil, and cornerback Bobby McCain, were all placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Dolphins owner Steve Ross said Friday that his expectation is for his team to make the playoffs, as usual, that he’s encouraged by first-year coach Adam Gase, and that he doesn’t expect any delays in the stadium renovation.

Jordan, who excelled at special teams during his time with the Dolphins, could have a tough time making the 53-man roster at defensive end.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) – Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan’s suspension ended just as training camp began. Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Jordan on Friday, when the Dolphins held their first practice.

“Jordan may join the Dolphins at training camp and participate in meetings, conditioning work and similar activities”, the National Football League said in a press release Friday. But according to the NFL’s statement on the matter, Jordan will be limited to “meetings, conditioning work and similar activities”. Based on his compliance and engagement with his program and resources, he will be permitted to participate in all regular-season activities beginning in Week 1.

Jordan, who was never able to overtake fellow defensive ends Cam Wake or Olivier Vernon to become a full time starter, served a four-game suspension at the start of the 2014 season.

Jordan applied in May to return.

The Dolphins don’t have to pay Jordan his $1.7 million bonus because of his violations of the NFL/NFLPA Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. ESPN points out that in all he has three suspensions, but also has three sacks in his time in the National Football League, not a very good start, but now he will have the chance to turn things around. The Miami group that drafted Jordan is gone, and he returns to a new coaching staff led by head coach Adam Gase. The Dolphins traded up in the draft to land the 6-foot-6, 275-pound pass rusher out of Oregon.

Foster is coming back from Achilles tendon surgery last fall.

Following the Dolphins’ first practice, Gase declined to say much about plans for Jordan.

“I know we will be playing September 1 there”.

When asked if Jordan needs to win back the trust of his teammates, Gase said, “I don’t know him, and that’s hard for me to answer. So I guess that’s really all that matters”.
