Clinton to name pick for vice president on Friday
Newly crowned Republican nominee Donald Trump thanked volunteers and staff members Friday for “an wonderful convention” and proclaimed party unity – even as he continued to bash rival Ted Cruz and re-litigated their primary disputes of the spring.

He pledged to stick to his most controversial proposals, which include building a wall along the entire US-Mexico border and suspending immigration from nations “compromised by terrorism”. Ted Cruz declined to endorse Trump.
He also spoke about immigration and took direct aim at Hillary Clinton and her legacy: “This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton: Death, destruction, terrorism and weakness”.
Still some people said they are cautious and concerned about whether Trump can put aside his past rhetoric and prove he can be presidential.
So, as controversy continues to surround Trump’s candidacy and the Republican Party, can the businessman and reality star win the U.S. presidency?
Pence didn’t address Cruz’s speech at the breakfast, a dramatic prime-time slot that ended in boos from delegates when he didn’t endorse Trump.
Outside the convention hall, Cleveland’s Public Square on July 21 attracted hundreds of demonstrators – both supporters and opponents of Trump – amid a sizable police presence.
When the crowd chanted “Lock her up!”, he told them: “Let’s defeat her in November”.
“I’m glad the waiting game is almost over”, Kaine said Thursday, giving away no hints about whether he is Clinton’s choice for the spot on her ticket.
The snaps included smiling portraits of such GOP headliners as Newt and Cally Gingrich, Eric Trump and Governors Scott Walker and Rick Scott. “I said well looks are deceiving”.
She added, “I don’t think he speaks for working families who would be devastated by his reckless economic policies”. Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine has emerged as her top choice.
She continued, “I’ve never heard of an American leader, or at least somebody who wants to be an American leader, claiming that he’s all we need”.
“I didn’t start anything with the wife”, Trump said of the attack ads during the primary, which he retweeted, that featured an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz.
Ted Cruz just got done speaking at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Clinton had been expected to announce her running mate on Friday.
Then, Trump sparked more questions about his Oval Office readiness by suggesting in the midst of the convention that the US might not defend America’s North Atlantic Treaty Organisation partners with him as president.
Then, matching a campaign promise by presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, she vowed her father would “fight for equal pay for equal work and I will fight for this too, right alongside him”.

On Monday, the convention’s opening day, a group of anti-Trump delegates that included Cruz backers tried to force a roll call on convention rules in a bid to force an “open convention” in which they could vote for any candidate they wanted.
