IN Focus: Trump, Pence make pitch for party unity at RNC

Ivanka also stated her father was a champion of equal pay, but according to an investigation by the Boston Globe, Trump’s campaign pays women 35 percent less than it pays men. But the ideals she spoke of were, if anything, decidedly liberal and nothing like the woman-hating policies of most Republican candidates. “And tonight, he is the people’s nominee”.

Ivanka was on hand to greet her father when he landed in Cleveland. Sure, she’s supporting her father and his terrifying dumpster fire of a campaign and that is pretty hard to get past, but really, did she have a choice?

“These sites are also incredible melting pots, gathering people from all walks of life and uniting them to work towards a single mission”, she said.

She said Trump entered the political arena as an outsider, and prevailed against 16 very talented competitors. “He recognizes real knowledge and skill when he finds it”, she said. “My father values talent”.

Ivanka then went on to talk about the gender wage gap and motherhood. But besides sort of the superficialities, there was a lot in the speech that was not true, and my colleagues did a good job fact checking some of that and that is up on our website. The crowd cheered, applauded and nodded as she described her father. Tonight, I urge all of my fellow Americans to stand up and vote for Donald Trump. In a July 3 interview, she even declared her father a “feminist”, insisting, “he always told me and showed me that I could do anything I set my mind to if I married vision and passion with work ethic”.

In a twist you can already see coming, Ivanka stood on stage suggesting that her father will turn around the American economy while wearing a dress that isn’t doing too much to help the American economy. She came across as competent, credible, sensible and strong.

Ivanka Trump said Thursday, “At our family’s company… women are paid equally for the work that we do and, when a woman becomes a mother, she is supported not shut out”.

Ivanka has never said anything about a career in politics, but after Thursday’s speech, people want to see her on a ticket – and possibly, in the White House.

“The last thing we need is somebody running for president who talks trash about America”, Clinton said of the Republican nominee’s lengthy address in Cleveland. But as the daughter of Donald Trump, being privileged and more recently, being in the spotlight, can sometimes take its toll.

It seems like it was a missed business opportunity for Trump. “As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place before women had joined the labor force”, she said.
