Fox’s Van Susteren: I didn’t defend Ailes
In late 2010 or early 2011, Luhn said, she wrote a letter to Fox lawyer Dianne Brandi saying she had been sexually harassed by Ailes for 20 years. In an interview with the Washington Post, Carlson said she felt relief as she watched more women step forward to accuse Ailes of harassment, ultimately forcing Ailes from the network.

When informed of the account, Brock told CNNMoney, “Why am I not surprised?” Do you understand? You will follow orders. “When Fox News did not commence any negotiations to renew her contract, Ms. Carlson became aware that her career with the network was likely over and conveniently began to pursue a lawsuit”. She said she meant the punishment for making a complaint, but Smith added another element: That she was also being punished “for not succumbing” to Ailes’ sexual demands – “we know that would have changed things”. “It was psychological torture”, she later told me.
Luhn likened her experience with Ailes to “psychological torture”, NY reported.”He’s a predator”, she added. “I don’t want to tell women they won’t be retaliated against”. As part of his exit deal, which includes a reported $60 million parachute, both Ailes and 21st Century Fox, the network’s parent company, agreed not to disparage each other, according to the report. He is working with veteran Fox News executives Bill Shine, senior executive vice president of programming; Jay Wallace, executive vice president of news and editorial; and Mark Kranz, the network’s chief financial officer, who are running the outlet on a day-to-day basis.
Laurie Luhn was Roger Ailes’ personal “whore” for over a decade. According to the article, Shine reviewed Luhn’s emails while Ailes put her up in a hotel after she had experienced a nervous breakdown.
From the f-slur to the n-word, Ailes seems to have used them all during his time at Fox News.
I asked Carlson how she reacted to news reports that Fox News star Megyn Kelly, after a period of silence, had told internal investigators that Ailes had harassed her, too. It was “the multitude of women” who started to come forward, creating a critical mass that could no longer be ignored.
Ailes resigned 15 days after Carlson’s legal team filed the lawsuit in Bergen Country, N.J.

She was among a number of Fox employees, including Sean Hannity, Maria Bartiromo, Neil Cavuto and Kimberly Guilfoyle, who spoke favorably of their boss publicly in the immediate aftermath of Carlson’s lawsuit, in which the former Fox anchor charged that her career had been sabotaged because she didn’t have sex with Ailes. On Friday, she announced that she would on Saturday host the Miss You Can Do It Pageant, an event created for girls and women with special needs.
