It made sense. After all, the series will take place shortly before some events in “The Walking Dead“. “But I also think it gives us a little bit of latitude, being this twisted step-kid of the original series”. However, this isn’t quite a spinoff.
Created by “Dead’s” comic-book patriarch Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, the new show can’t help but be a hit given the built-in demand and curiosity, which affords the creative team the latitude to proceed at its own pace. As seen in the trailer, people are warned to get their flu shot.
Since the series is focused on the people and how they deal with the outbreak, viewers of “TWD” should not expect to see the cause of the apocalypse in the upcoming series.
Another aspect of the spin-off that makes it distinct and very different from the original are the characters. Fear The Walking Dead synopses for episode 1 and 2 are out, hinting at a scary future awaiting Madison and her boyfriend Travis. Instead, it will feature those living in east L.A. Dickens described her character as a “bada**”. From left to right: Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Alycia Debnam Carey, and Frank Dillane.
As for Travis, he is a teacher who loves his students.
With that said, we hope that this four-person core does end up staying together through most of the series.
Later in the interview, Reedus added, “You have taken a collection of wild animals and placed them in a domestic ecosystem, and some of them would rather be in the wild, and several of these animals can not figure out how to adapt other than remaining wild”. It is likely that is when the apocalypse begins.

When drawing inspiration for the spin-off, Greg Nicotero, executive producer of the show, says that he and Adam Davidson (director of Fear the Walking Dead) looked into Philip Kaufman’s “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. Imagine how easy it would be for a family to be torn apart when things are already falling apart. Will you be watching “Fear the Walking Dead“?
