Fox Renews John Cena Competition Series ‘American Grit’ for Season 2
Executive produced and hosted by Cena, season 1 featured 16 contestants who were pushed to their limits in a series of challenges that tested strength, willpower, and teamwork. However, the show stayed consistant and even made up ground from the usual post-premiere drops to the point that the season finale almost matched the series premiere, which is an encouraging sign in a TV landscape where ratings typically dwindle as the season progresses. The series is looking for everyday individuals who have overcome great odds and are ready to confront their next challenge, according to Fox.

Casting has begun for the next group of men and women for season two of “American Grit”. The teams were led by elite former military mentors, known as “the cadre”. In the end, one man and one woman are left standing to split the half million dollar prize. The hashtag drew more than 35 million impressions.
American Grit is produced by Leftfield Pictures and executive-produced by David George, Brent Montgomery, Adam Sher, Will Nothacker and Simon Thomas.

For a guy whose wrestling entrance music contains the phrase “You can’t see me”, – which itself has become one of the Internet’s best successors to the Rick Roll – John Cena has become ever-present throughout the entertainment industry in recent years, transcending his WWE Superstar descriptor.
