Joe Biden’s farewell: The VP’s last big moment under the political spotlight
“For my friend Hillary Clinton, I humbly accept my party’s nomination to be vice president of the United States”, the Virginia senator said.

Obama spoke after vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, and Vice President Joe Biden, who delivered an impassioned speech registering his support for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, noting that “she has always been there” for Americans.
No major party nominee in the country’s history has known less about national security, Biden said.
“He has no clue about what makes America great”.
“His lack of empathy can be summed up in a phrase he made famous, ‘You’re fired, ‘” Biden said.
Anticipating that the mere mention of Trump’s name would get the delegates chanting, he pleaded, “Look at me for a second without booing and cheering. And while this nation has been tested by war and recession and all manner of challenge — I stand before you again tonight, after nearly two terms as your President, to tell you I am even more optimistic about the future of America”, he said. “In an unstable world, we can not afford unstable leadership”.
“How can there be pleasure in saying you are fired?” “He just says, ‘believe me.’ So here’s the question: Do you really believe him?”
“I’m not trying to be a wise guy here, but that’s not Donald Trump’s story”, he said. Kristen Welker contended that “there is…no more critical speech than the one he’ll deliver tonight…This time, his legacy is also on the line”.
“Trump has left behind a well-documented record of bankruptcies, thousands of lawsuits, angry shareholders and contractors who feel cheated, and disillusioned customers who feel ripped off”, Bloomberg said. Obama believes in us.
He also reflected on his own presidency and national political career, unofficially borne out of a memorable speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004.
Brown described being painstakingly background-checked, effectively deposed by a team of lawyers and interviewed by Clinton for 90 minutes at her home in northwest Washington. He planned to say that she is cool in crisis and “never, ever quits”, according to excerpts released earlier in the day. “I’m a New Yorker and I know a con when I see one”. I know what she’s passionate about.
But it was Obama who wrapped up the evening by focusing on Clinton’s experience, saying there’s never been a “man or woman – not me, not Bill – more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America”. Given Obama’s popularity among the party faithful, Kaine was relegated to speak before him.
What came across from Bloomberg is the view of Trump as a bad businessman, with Bloomberg dismissing Trump as a rich man’s son who had $1 million to start back in the 1960s (worth $7 million today) yet ended up in bankruptcy seven times. Trump’s exploitation of fear is “not who we are” and “betrays our values”.
