– The Clinton campaign is embracing the historic nature of the night: Earlier in the program, twelve women senators came on stage and talked about how Clinton has helped women.
She accusing Trump of forgetting such people as America’s troops, its police and firefighters, teachers and others.
She’s emphasizing her point by saying the Founding Fathers designed the Constitution so America would be a nation where no one person has all the power.
“It is with humility, determination and boundless confidence in America?s promise that I accept your nomination for president”, Clinton said as thousands of party delegates, leaders and supporters at the Wells Fargo Center erupted in cheers and applause.
Clinton was introduced by her daughter, Chelsea, who spoke warmly of her mother as a woman “driven by compassion, by faith, by kindness, a fierce sense of justice, and a heart full of love”. He just says, believe me. “My primary mission as President will be to create more opportunity and more good jobs with rising wages right here in the United States”, Clinton said.
“A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons”, she said.
After a briefing of his decision to support Hillary Clinton for president, explaining that “she knows what’s at stake in the decisions our government makes, what’s at stake for the working family”, he commented on Donald Trump’s plans if the GOP nominee elected. Hillary promised Sanders that she would fulfill the vision as envisaged through his campaign.
She says she wouldn’t build a wall or ban a religion. “You’ve got to get in the arena with her, because Democracy isn’t a spectator sport”. They don’t endorse candidates, she said, but they do come together on issues they think are important, hold voter forums, debates, and, of course, they work to get women, especially young women, to think about running for office.
“I want to thank Bernie Sanders”, she said amid major applaud as people start chanting “Bernie!” but she continues. “But we are not afraid”. It was a notable moment during a speech that went on to be less about partisan politics and more about fostering the values that America was founded upon.
“We are clear-eyed about what our country is up against”. But we already know he doesn’t believe these things.
After Tuesdays roll call vote making Clinton the official nominee, Bernie Sanders supporters protested in and outside of the media tents.
