At the convention, a series of speakers highlighted the fact that Trump’s ties are made in China, shirts in Bangladesh and furniture in Turkey. Independent former-mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg made an appeal to his fellow unaffiliated voters and the business community. Trump has already begun to label him as “corrupt Kaine” because of his ethical lapses in accepting $160,000 in gifts and trips from special interest groups during his tenure as lieutenant governor and governor, even though accepting the gifts was not a violation of Virginia law. Kaine used the speech as an opportunity to introduce himself to America, praise Hillary Clinton’s readiness for office and portray Republican nominee Donald Trump as unfit for the presidency.

In a night of big speeches, the Virginia senator’s discussion of his life’s work did not stand out. “Hey, if so, you should vote for him.” he stated. Kaine came across as an upbeat suburban dad, earnest and at times a little goofy. In Philadelphia for the summer to help take care of his grandchild, Goodwin said he hopes to see Clinton and Kaine continue to draw out the contrasting visions of the two parties as they hit the road this weekend.
“I stayed up really late last night”. Nearly as soon as it became obvious the speech would rattle on rather predictably, posters on Reddit and Twitter started pouring out jokes. The posts on Twitter were sensational.
“Tim Kaine’s debut was the best of these I’m aware of, or can remember”, he wrote.

Kaine encouraged voters to make America stronger together by picking Hillary. The article traced the shift in the Democratic Party platform’s language from Bill Clinton’s 1992 pledge to make the procedure “safe, legal and rare” to the 2012 platform, which dropped any reference “to abortion as a bad thing that needed to go away as much as possible”.
During his time as senator, Kaine has enjoyed consistently positive approval ratings. Such sentiment is the antithesis of everything the RNC concluded on last week: fear, xenophobia and a very bleak picture of American life.
“We better elect the candidate who’s proven she can be trusted with the job”, he said. “I may not call you a name, but I might call what you propose all kinds of names”, Kaine told the Missouri delegation. John Adams famously referred to the role of Vice President as “the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived”.
