Trump can’t stop tweeting about Clinton’s speech
But she made an important start. It’s her opponent – the burlesque alpha male – who’s hysterical and shrill. I desperately want her to persuade enough Americans that she can be a credible and competent president.

Just 38 percent of voters viewed Clinton favorably in a Gallup poll conducted the week before the convention, the lowest point in 24 years.
And 82% of those CNN polled said Clinton’s policies would move the country in the right direction. “He’s taken the Republican Party a long way, from morning in America to midnight in America”, Clinton said, echoing a popular 1984 campaign ad for Ronald Reagan. “In one poll, 56 percent of Americans thought she ought to have been indicted for her problems with her personal email server”. She spent the evening talking down to the American people she’s looked down on her whole life.
“Hillary is seen as a cold fish who is calculating and not of the highest integrity”, says political consultant Gary Nordlinger. “She has to show she is warm, compassionate and trustworthy”.
One of the major themes of the last night at the Democratic National Convention was Clinton’s experience in national security affairs, highlighted with a myriad of former government officials testifying to her fitness to be commander in chief. More broadly, Clinton sought to unite the nation at a time of racial tension, rising nativism, economic anxiety, and the threat of terrorism.
“She has got to be personal, she has got to be real”, Weiner says.
“We’ll build a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants who are already contributing to our economy”, she said.
“She is incredibly smart”.
“It’s not about Bernie, it’s about the movement”, said California delegate Nancy Kim, who does not plan to vote for Clinton even after Sanders’ enthusiastic endorsement. After Trump’s speech, 57% of people reacted very positively. “You sort of can’t do both at the same time”.
Speaking earlier, Kaine also hit Trump over his convention speech. On the last day of the Republican National Convention, Trump questioned Clinton’s trustworthiness, saying she has “bad instincts and bad judgment”.
“How are you going to break through the gridlock in Washington?”
You can tell that she feels she has a newfound objective because Donald Trump is her rival. “Hillary!” by her supporters.
It also praises her speech for having “at a moment when political discourse is divisive and dark, acknowledged stiff challenges but summoned optimism”.
“She seems a bit distant, disconnected”. People on the floor were fanning themselves with their “Stronger Together” signs.

Squared off against Donald Trump, that’s a contest she can never lose. Despite her decades on the public stage, many know Clinton as much from Republican attacks as her resume, a fact Clinton confronted head-on: “I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me, so let me tell you”.
