Everton fretting on Lukaku’s fitness ahead of Watford opener

Mourinho on Friday made a veiled criticism of Roberto Martinez for the Everton manager’s outspoken rebuke of Chelsea for their pursuit of John Stones.

The Premier League champions are reported to have had two bids in excess of £20million for Stones rejected by Everton.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez claims young defender John Stones has been affected mentally by Chelsea’s attempts to sign him, according to ESPN.

“I’m buzzing and delighted to be committing my future long-term to Everton”, McCarthy, who has 27 worldwide caps, told evertontv.

Twice? Has John Stones spent a season on loan at Chelsea and considered a permanent move?

Everton are expected to hold onto Stones, as Martinez has insisted that the Everton star is not for sale.

This season we must be far more clinical and efficient in our play, getting the ball forward quicker and trying not to play the slow patient passing game. The rules do not allow you to comment in that open manner on players who are registered at other clubs. And with clubs knowing that they will need reinforcements, they will have no problem asking for an astronomical price for one of their own players.

On the current side After last season I personally think that a mid-table/top 10 will be the best we will achieve.

Is Martinez right when he says John Terry’s comments about John Stones were illegal?

He added: “We have a fantastic relationship between the two clubs. As clubs we have a good understanding of where we are”.

“If you say to any young footballer, ‘Leave a club to sit on the bench”, you’ve got to be a lunatic – you have to be.’.

“The real frustration is when you are financially in a bad state as a football club and have no control over your assets”.

Martinez has revealed that he wants to bring in three more players before the close of the transfer window on September 1 – but confirmed that no new signings will be made before the start of the new season tomorrow. It is going to be a long process but I hope to see in 5 years time, maybe more, the current crop in the first team squad.
