Eagles linebacker Kiko Alonso out with concussion

Murray, who also missed Sunday’s practice after failing a daily hydration test, was sidelined with an undisclosed illness, while Alonso was out with a concussion, likely suffered in Tuesday’s open practice at the Linc.

Kiko Alonso now has another hurdle to get through to get back on the field.

Chip Kelly talks to the media before practice, so he’s finished that part of his day before anyone can see which players are being held out of practice because of injuries.

Two of the biggest acquisitions in a busy Eagles offseason were out of practice on Thursday and it looks like linebacker Kiko Alonso will be the bigger worry for the team moving forward.

Kelly explained those moves on Saturday.

He still has league-mandated concussion protocol to pass before he can be back on the practice field.

Concussions can be a scary prospect, and while getting healthy is the primary objective, Alonso missing time during the first week of training camp with his new team isn’t ideal.

The first preseason game for Philadelphia is August 16th when the Eagles host the Indianapolis Colts.

Fortunately, it seems that Alonso has done well in picking up the playbook, to the point where veteran linebacker DeMeco Ryans isn’t concerned about the time lost.

On Friday, one of those players returned.
