Democratic Party Chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz Quits Over Email Scandal
She added: “Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention”. Supporters of Bernie Sanders launched a social media campaign – under the hashtag #BernieMustDisavow – in an effort to convince the embattled socialist candidate to rescind his endorsement of Clinton, who those supporters say “stole the nomination”.

A slew of leaked emails was the last straw for Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who announced Sunday afternoon her resignation as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee effective later this week.
DNC Vice Chair Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist who will lead the party on an interim basis after the convention, warned more leaked emails, and more apologies, could be coming. “We were able to keep him from including more on the JVF, it has a mention in there, but between us and a conversation he had with Marc Elias he finally backed off from focusing too much on that”. It also overshadowed preparations in Philadelphia for Clinton’s coronation as the nominee to face Trump in the November 8 presidential election. Undermining the Sanders campaign – which was seen as a viable threat to the Clinton campaign – seems to have been a priority of the leadership of a party that claims to be “democratic”. And he, too, celebrated the ouster of Wasserman Schultz after the email hack. Ironically, Sanders famously said during a debate “I don’t care about your damn emails” to Mrs. Clinton.
Many of Sanders’ delegates, frustrated with the primary process and furious with outgoing party chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, were still weighing ways to disrupt the four-day event. Not to disappoint, on the eve of the Democratic National Convention, Wikileaks released 19,252 emails from leaders in the Democratic National Committee.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – The furor over leaked emails not only got U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz heckled out of her speaking role Monday at the Democratic National Convention; it’s also providing fodder for her congressional primary opponent. Wasserman Schultz denied the accusation, but was forced out as chief Sunday.
The FBI confirmed that they were investigating the hack on July 25.
Clinton was due to campaign in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday. They accused Russian Federation of trying to meddle in the US election and favoring GOP nominee Donald Trump. “I stepped down the other day because I wanted to make sure that having brought us to this momentous day and to Philadelphia and planned the convention that is going to be the best one that we’ve ever had in our party’s history that this needs to be all about making sure that everyone knows that Hillary Clinton would make the best president”.
On Friday, July 22, 2016, Wikileaks released approximately 20,000 emails sent from or received by Democratic National Committee personnel. Party officials learned in late April that their systems had been attacked after they discovered malicious software on their computers. “If she tries to speak the boos will rival those of Trump himself if he tried to speak”. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a progressive favorite, would deliver the convention keynote. Other high-profile speakers include first lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.

Potarazu told CNN Saturday that he wants answers from top DNC officials on how they are responding to these revelations, which have surfaced days before the Democratic convention. (It should be noted, though, that the same poll found a significant post-convention bump for Donald Trump.) But if it was a disaster, so what? Bernie Sanders, who finished second in the Democratic primary. Bernie Sanders, will have his moment – with his 1,900 delegates to cheer him on. “There is only one person I trust with that responsibility, only one person I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United States, and that is Hillary Clinton”.
