Arsenal began a stretch of two friendlies within 72 hours on Thursday night by defeating Major League Soccer’s All-Stars 2-1 at Avaya Stadium, and they face CD Guadalajara on Sunday in Metropolitan Los Angeles.
Striker Takuma Asano is the third offseason addition and like Chuba Akpom, scorer of the winning goal in the All-Star Game, he is a young player of the future rather than right now. He commended the raised level of play in the league and was impressed with the competitiveness.
“Let’s not forget that there are still few players at home”. “I spoke to Dominic (Kinnear) in San Jose this Monday when I went for some meetings, we spoke briefly but I didn’t want to influence him”.
Didier Drogba hardly felt like celebrating his goal given the MLS All-Stars missed multiple late scoring chances that cost them their all-star game against Premier League power Arsenal.

“He’s adapted surprisingly”, said Wenger. He expressed his satisfaction with the performances of numerous youngsters, adding: “Individually, I would say in the first half [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain was very risky and exceptionally strong”. Overall I believe his first game was encouraging. “That’s the philosophy of the club”, Cech told British media.
“I’ve been here since last season and you can see that every time we bring in a player, it’s a player we need, and the manager believes he improves the team”.
“There is a core of the players who have been at Arsenal for years, and they know that is an advantage as well”.
