The San Diego Police Department said two police officers had to radio for help and an “emergency cover” during a traffic stop. The source mentions San Diego Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman as quoting that the department’s body cam footage will not usually be released to the public.

Team 10 asked SDPD Chief Shelley Zimmerman about the increase in assaults on officers, and she said the statistic is going in a direction they don’t want.
Police spokesmen did not immediately return calls for further comment, but the department says in a Twitter posting that one suspect was in custody and other possible suspects were being sought.
His wounded partner Wade Irwin came out of surgery later in the morning and is expected to survive, the police department tweeted. “I can’t begin to put into words the emotions and feelings that surround an event like this”, Zimmerman said.
Among the officer deaths this summer were the July 17 killings of three officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a July 7 attack in Dallas that killed five officers.
Officers broke windows, pounded on the roof and shouted for the man they thought was there to surrender but he wasn’t found there.
The officers reported they were making a stop and nearly immediately called for help.
Speaking outside the hospital Zimmerman said: ‘It’s a little bit of a long haul until he makes a full recovery, but the good news is that he is going to survive and he is going to recover’.
Two offices exchanged gun fire with some suspects in the Southcrest area late Thursday night, according to police.
A police officer used a bullhorn to urge a man to leave the house and police detonated several loud devices. “During that operation, Marcus Antonio Cassani, date of birth 6/8/75, was located and arrested for an outstanding warrant”.
Zimmerman said she and other officers notified his wife, two children and extended family members of his death.
Zimmerman said authorities have both video and ballistic evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.
Ten years earlier, DeGuzman was awarded a purple heart after being stabbed during a traffic stop. The man was convicted of attempted murder on a peace officer in 2004. Zimmerman said he lost his life trying to make a positive difference and protect his community.
“I can tell you he is a loving, caring husband, father”. “I know him. He talked about his children every day”.
The unidentified officers were shot Thursday night in a San Diego neighborhood.

“Violence against the men and women who wear the badge is violence against us all”, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer said after the shootings in his city.
