That means that now at least 24 people who claimed to be a half-sibling through someone other than Prince’s father, or those claiming more distant family tree connections, are out.

Among the claimants were five people who said they were children of Prince and, because the rocker had no recognised offspring, could potentially have gained his entire estate estimated to be worth more than US$300 million.

The special administrator of the estate, Bremer Trust, has said it was in the process of determining the fair-market value of Prince’s estate.

Judge Kevin Eide also dismissed a woman’s claim that she was once married to Prince.

A Minnesota judge has excluded almost 30 would-be heirs from the estate of the late pop star Prince, bolstering the inheritance claims of the performer’s sister and surviving half-siblings, probate court records released on Friday showed.

Prince died of an accidental overdose of the painkiller fentanyl on 21 April after being found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios; he apparently did not leave a will, leaving to nearly immediate speculation about the fate of his estate following his death. Ken Abdo, the attorney for the three half-siblings declined to comment.

It also excludes people who claimed Prince’s father was someone other than the man identified in court records.

Tyka Nelson, the only sibling who he shares both parents with.

In her initial probate filing, Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, listed herself and six half-siblings (one deceased) as known heirs. The pair has claimed Briana Nelson’s father was Prince’s half-brother.

Two other half siblings of the late musician – Omarr Baker or Alfred Jackson – were not ordered to undergo genetic testing.
