Microsoft is trying to sweeten the pot with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which will be released on August 2, four days after the upgrade deadline.

Web traffic analysis tool, StatCounter, said 56.4 percent of PCs in the country are still running on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 – which are both eligible for free Windows 10 upgrade offer.

The process of getting the free Windows 10 upgrade is quite simple.

This last change doesn’t come without controversy, however – you can no longer disable Cortana in the new update, according to PC World. You might be glad you did. Windows 7 has already passed its mainstream support date, and it won’t receive any updates – including critical security updates – after 1/14/2020. What this will likely mean in practice, rather like the OS X branding for Apple computers, is that Windows 10 will grow and adapt over time, rather than be replaced in a few years with an entirely new operating system.

And with 350 million devices now running the new desktop OS – it is more popular than Windows 8, although it still lags behind the trusted Windows 7. Windows 10 brings in the successor to Internet Explorer in the form of Microsoft Edge which is an absolute joy to use.

In case, you don’t want to skip out the chance to upgrade to the Windows 10 platform for free of charge, today is the only day left for you.

Windows 10 Education variant is superior in comparison to the Pro Education variant because it offers additional features such as Device Guard, Credential Guard, and the new Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection service. Microsoft clarified that if users do not like using Cortana, they can remove the text entry box of the voice assistant from the taskbar. However, if doing so will make you feel bad, or go against your personal moral code, then you should purchase a copy instead.
