Who will get Prince’s fortune? Potential heirs narrowed down to six
A judge overseeing Prince’s estate has narrowed down the pool of potential heirs for the late superstar’s fortune, ruling out almost 30 claimants while ordering genetic testing for six purported family members. According to the USA Today report, John Nelson, Norrine Nelson, Sharon Nelson, Alfred Jackson, Omarr Baker and Tyka Nelson are all known to be Prince’s siblings or half-siblings, and will all likely split the estate so long as tests prove they are indeed related to him. However, in Prince’s case neither exist – as his parents are deceased, as is the only child known to be born to the singer, a boy, who died shortly after birth in 1996 from a genetic disorder.

Also denied were four people who claimed to be the singer’s children, as well as people claiming to be Prince’s father or other relatives.
Also dismissed were a batch of claims by several people who described themselves as descendants of a sister of Prince’s great-grandfather.
Brianna and Victoria had told the court that Prince not only had a close relationship with Duane, who served as head of security at Paisley Park in the ’90s, but that John Nelson had acknowledged Duane as his son and Duane was listed as John’s son in two obituaries: his own and Prince’s half-sister Lorna’s. The pair claimed Brianna Nelson’s father was Prince’s half-brother.
The estate of the late Prince Rogers Nelson is estimated to worth $100 million to $300 million.
The decision found that only two newcomers would be allowed to continue with their claims and possibly join the six siblings already listed in the probate petition filed by Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson in April. Selmer opined that his client would be banned from undergoing testing while a man serving an eight-year prison sentence in Colorado was given a DNA test.
Ken Abdo, an attorney for three of Prince’s half-siblings, sided with Bremer, comparing the media’s interest to “celebrity business voyeurism”. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
