Clinton has picked up some endorsements from Republicans in recent weeks, including Brent Scowcroft, a national security adviser to President George H.W. Bush; Hank Paulson, a Treasury secretary under President George W. Bush; and Dan Akerson, a former top executive with General Motors and Nextel. He’s not representing Republicans as much as he is representing himself – “I alone can fix it” – and in so doing makes this election a referendum on Donald Trump. At one point the president said that “anyone who threatens our values, whether fascists or communists or jihadists or homegrown demagogues, will always fail in the end”.
Clinton’s four-day convention began with efforts to shore up liberals who backed Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary and it ended with an outstretched hand to Republicans and independents unnerved by Trump.
Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is giving Hillary Clinton credit for her work on behalf of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
PHILADELPHIA-With the world watching, an extraordinary thing happened on the big stage at the Democratic National Convention while the world watched: a black man embraced a white woman.
“It’s true”, she said. Clinton was a US senator from NY at the time. She never quits. His endorsement of Hillary was strong and without question. But, she added, she’s going to be fair.
Vilsack said he expects President Obama to continue spreading the message he shared at the convention Wednesday night – that there’s still work to do. She allowed us to be a part of it. “The crowd displayed “HILLARY” signs, waved American flags and roared with applause as Clinton outlined campaign proposals”. And that nice head of hair! “Just ask the twenty million more people who have health care today”.
The Democrat and first woman nominee for a major party will tour Pennsylvania and OH by bus, while Trump jets to Colorado, where his plan to build a wall on the Mexican border could resonate with angry whites but repel Hispanics.
