In the biggest speech of her quarter century in politics, Clinton on Thursday accepted the Democratic presidential nomination for the November 8 election with a promise to make the U.S. a nation that works for everyone.

Donald Trump wants to divide Americans from each other and the world, Clinton said.

Nearly six in 10 Americans, or 57 percent, have an unfavorable view of Clinton, while 38 percent have a favorable view of her, a Gallup poll released on Monday has found.

President Obama was the closer Wednesday night, and he executed the job flawlessly, contrasting Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a way that you would hope won over even the peacenik meatheads who had heckled former CIA Director Leon Panetta earlier.

“I want you to know I’ve heard you”, Clinton said. “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”. Thank you all. I can not wait to join you in Philadelphia.

Clinton herself made an appearance with the president at the end of the speech, waving to the crowds of delegates but keeping her address for the final day of the convention.

-“Don’t believe anyone who says: ‘I alone can fix it'”.

In a 12-minute introduction received warmly in a packed Philadelphia arena, Chelsea Clinton countered criticism that her mother is an untrustworthy politician who struggles to show compassion in front of American voters. “She always feels there isn’t a moment to lose because she knows for that mother, for that family there isn’t”, she said. She took the stage at her first rally with her husband, former president Bill Clinton, and running mate Tim Kaine, the Virginia senator, standing behind her.

Clinton officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president at the party’s convention in Philadelphia this week, and Trump accepted the Republican nomination at that convention last week in Cleveland.

Both candidates’ children say they are friends, a relationship they struck up before their parents launched campaigns for the White House. Despite some ongoing resistance from Bernie backers she vowed to pinch some of his economic policies and also tackle issues like student debt which gained Sanders so much support.

On Thursday night, Trump had said he wanted to “hit” some of the speakers “so hard their heads would spin”.

“And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump”. “She’s been caricatured by the right and by some folks on the left; accused of everything you can imagine – and some things you can’t”.
