The FBI released a statement Friday in which it said it knew about “media reporting on cyberintrusions involving multiple political entities” without naming names.

She said in a statement that the investigation is ongoing.

The service was hacked as part of a recent attack on Democratic Party institutions, a campaign spokesman said Friday.

Campaign officials said they were only one of the users of the DNC’s voter analysis system, adding that the program did not include data such as Social Security numbers or credit card information.

“Our campaign computer system has been under review by outside cyber security experts”, the statement read. Party officials deny such claims, stating that external cyber experts were hired and they didn’t find any evidence of a breach in the system.

The report suggests that it is the same arm of Russia’s intelligence operation, which was believed to be behind the attack on the national committee, in which it gained access to opposition research on Republicans, including Donald Trump.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said on Thursday the USA intelligence isn’t ready to “make the call on attribution” as to who was responsible for the DNC hack. Bernie Sanders during the presidential primaries. The leak also led to the resignation of DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. President Barack Obama has said Russian Federation was nearly certainly responsible for the DNC hack, an assertion with which cybersecurity experts have agreed. This time, the hackers have targeted the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which raises money and provides assistance for House candidates. Upon discovering the issue, we immediately took action and engaged with CrowdStrike, a leading forensic investigator, to assist us in addressing this incident. “The investigation is ongoing”.

Earlier this year, Director of National Security James Clapper warned that political campaigns would be likely targets of hacking attempts, a prediction that appears to be coming true.

“This seems to be a problem wherever Hillary Clinton goes”. According to the sources, the previously unreported incident may have potential ties to Russian hackers.

“The cyberthreat environment continues to evolve as cyberactors target all sectors and their data”, said the Federal Bureau of Investigation in its statement.
