One of the biggest deals in tech just got smaller.

Alcatel has announced that it will launch its new Alcatel IDOL 3 4.7 Android smartphone in the United States and Canada on Friday.
The Idol 3 4.7 will be available unlocked via AlcatelOneTouch.us, AlcatelOneTouch.ca for Canadian consumers, and Amazon at $179 starting August 14, making it the company’s lowest priced unlocked phone with LTE.
The mini Idol 3 has the same 13-megapixel rear camera, but a less sharp 5-MP selfie shooter than the 8-MP one on its larger brother. The phone, despite having a budget price, has fairly decent specs, including Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and dual front-facing speakers coupled with JBL Audio.
Alcatel hits redial on the OneTouch Idol 3. The Moto G starts with the same Snapdragon 410 chip and 1GB of RAM, but you can order it with 2GB and 16GB of storage. The Idol 3 4.7 also retains two of the Idol 3 5.5’s most notable features: its front-facing speakers and its fully reversible design, the latter of which means you can use the phone upside-down and the software will adapt.
The display is not the only difference in these two phones.
Taking a peek inside, we find a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage.

Anyway, if you’re not into smartphones with larger displays like the OneTouch Idol 3, the Idol 3 4.7 seems like a good choice, especially for those who aren’t willing to spend a fortune on their next handset. But it still packs a lot of power for a $180 phone.
